I tend to be really picky when it comes to reading, I seem to find myself getting bored with a book if it isn't some what exciting every step of the way. I enjoy reading memoirs, magazines and fun facts about bands I like in my spare time. Some books that have kept my attention (and turned out to be my favourite series of books) were Perfect, Impulse, Identical, Tricks, and Fallout all written by Ellen Hopkins. Her books tend to deal with more mature topics but they're a perfect read for teenagers 16-20.
Although some tend to be disturbing stories.. books about tragic and current events seem to capture my attention the most. I really enjoy reading about the day in the life of someone else even if it some what fictional.. I find books that are more relatable and "real" easier to read than a fictional book that is completely fake.
When I read it really helps me open my mind to new things that I would probably not think of myself. I always find myself opening up discussions with family and friends about similar topics that are in the book i'm reading which can really help with things such as social skills and even personal intelligence.
I think if I weren't as picky it would be easier for me to open almost any book and be able to read it... Maybe one day!!! but for now I just try to enjoy reading when I need too.
